Ska Nights In Newcastle

Still to sort out the details but it looks like Pressure Drop DJs Paddy & myself will be making the trip to Newcastle to DJ at one of the nights listed below. I was thinking that if we got enough Pressure Drop regulars interested that we might hire a mini bus for the night to go to Newcastle.

So, is anyone up for some skankin' in Geordieland?

Starting Saturday 8th August, the Ska Monkey crew will be putting on a monthly skanking special at The End Bar, 78 Scotswood Rd, Newcastle. Featuring 1 live act and guest DJ's

The first night will feature Root System who are rappidly becoming one of the leading Ska Bands in the UK. Coming from bonny scotland these days you are almost guaranteed quality from any band that has made a name for themselves, such is the standard of Bombskare, Amphetameanies, Big Hand, Big Fat Panda, etc, etc.

Don't miss this very first visit to Newcastle by Root System.

Me & Paddy were asked to DJ this coming Saturday (8th August) at the End Bar in Newcastle. But sadly it looks like neither of us can make it. Still, I'm sure will be doing a guest DJ spot there in the near future.


2 DJs from The End Bar (Tony Eastlake & Ash) will be making an appearance at the Pressure Drop Bank Holiday special on Sunday 30th August. Some of you will know Ash from the Mapped Out nights and from his regular show on Mod Radio UK - www.modradiouk.net/

Will mention it but as far as I know Ash doesn't own a CD player. So I can't see it been a problem.

I know that Ash is djing at Run To The Hills but it's a 2 day event Friday/Saturday and so leaves them free to DJ at Pressure Drop.

I'm now doing a guest DJ spot at The End Bar this Saturday. I'll be on early doors though as the last train back in 9.40pm. Hope to see a few of you there!

I really enjoyed the Dance Craze night in Newcastle on Saturday. It's a great little club and I'm sure it will do well once word gets around. The band Root System had to cancel though so it ended up been a free night which gave me a longer stint behind the decks. I finished the night off with a half hour Northern Soul set due to running out of ska records as I hadn't planned on been on for so long!

Thanks to Charlie for picking me up to so I could stay till the end instead of running for the last train home as it was at 9.50pm.

The club is held at The End Bar, 78 Scotswood Rd, Newcastle. This night will feature a live band Cartoon Violence as well as the Ska Monkey Sound System Crew behind the decks. Pressure Drop's very own boss DJ Paddy M will also be doing a guest DJ spot that night. It's only £3 in so get yourselves along for some fine ska sounds!

Cartoon Violence have had to put back their visit to Newcastle due to the sudden change of line up. So can not play this night.

A decent crowd on Saturday night at The End Bar which featured a live set by Welsh Ska band Smoke Like A Fish and and also a guest DJ spot by Pressure Drop's Paddy M. It was good to see that a few Pressure Drop regulars made the journey to Geordieland to support this monthly club.
