Good name for a band.
We have a few Ska/2 Tone covers acts round here called Ska-Boom & Ska Beats. There was also another band called Gangsters Of Ska but I think most of those members are now in Ska-Boom.

You try to play original stuff but some people only want to hear 2 Tone covers. But the best gig we ever did was when we dropped the 2 Tone covers for our set at a Scottish Ska festival, we went down a storm at the gig and even went down better than the headliners 100 Men whose frontman Mik is now in Babyshambles.

Yeah it would be nice to throw a few covers into the set list, but i think if your ever going to be taken seriously you have to do your own stuff.

As round here a lot of places will only book covers/tribute acts. I used to have to tell a few white lies when I was booking gigs for my power pop band Afterglow and tell the venues that our set was 50% covers when it was mostly original stuff we played. Still, we never had any complaints and always got paid. Well, nearly always as I remember Dr Browns ripping us off but that's a story for another day.
