I'd support the night if you went ahead with it Paddy. But I've never really liked The Empire as a venue as it's a bit of a claggy mat.
Also would you be doing separate floors like they do with Modern Life? Is Modern Life even on at The Empire anymore?

Sadly the Modern life nights there never took off, i went to both, think that was down to low key (ie non exsistant) promotion Modern Life or should I say the Revival night as it was called at The Empire got a few articles & mentions in the Evening Gazette and I saw a few posters round town. Rocket Clothing were also giving out free tickets for the night as I got 2. I couldn't make it on the night so gave them to Dean. He said that the night was pretty dead. I think it was a bad idea having 3 different rooms on the 3 floors. Used to love Modern Life at The Arena in Boro & also The Arc in Stockton but it went downhill when it moved to Spensleys. When it returned to The Arc they had one great night when Jarvis Humby played but the next 2 I went to (JTQ & Modus) the attendance was well down and it just lacked any atmosphere. I just think that Modern Life has had it's day. Shame.

Went to the Empire last night & as Bazza says - it's a bit of a claggy mat (or claggy laminate floor!) but when it's packed with people dancing and having a good time, then that hardly matters. I think it's a good idea personally, as it provides exposure to an audience which perhaps wouldn't attend an exclusively all-ska/rocksteady gig? By the way - it was feckin' freezing in there so everyone would have to dance just to keep warm!

I've been talking to Wally Francis about doing something at The Empire in Middlesbrough, a mash up of Pressure Drop Sounds, Northern Soul and 60' s Mod club soul... Did anything come of this Paddy?

I've been talking to Wally Francis about doing something at The Empire in Middlesbrough, a mash up of Pressure Drop Sounds, Northern Soul and 60' s Mod club soul... I think it is a great idea, I've spent a lot of time and money going up and down the country supporting do's like this ... who's up for it? comments and suggestions please Andy Nico mentioned this to me last week, about playing some ska upstairs while the Northern Soul nights are on. I said they was talk of it but as far as I know nothing came of it.
