Decent Mod CD entitled 'Mov On Up' with the November issue of Mojo magazine. I did think that the track listing was a bit strange at first especially including a track from Dexys latest album, but the comp really works well together. It should also please fans of the Weller fella as it includes 2 unissued tracks of The Jam, 'Brother To Brother' by Terry Callier & Paul Weller and what all Jam fans have been waiting for a new track from The Jam! Well, ok it's From The Jam but it does include Paul Weller on keyboards.
The magazine itself has a big feature on the final days of The Jam and it confirms what I always suspected that The Style Council were recording 6 months before The Jam split.
Looking at the adverts at the back of the magazine (Sherrys, 1960.com, Fishtail Parkas.com & Scoots Suits and Boots.com) it's like '1979 all over again! Another Mod revival on the way? I bloody hope not!
Track listing:
THE JAM Just Who Is The Five O’Clock Hero (Demo) (2:20)
THE YARDBIRDS You’re A Better Man Than I (3:15)
LEE DORSEY Ride Your Pony (2:48)
LAUREL AITKEN Bad Minded Woman (2:40)
THE BEAT Twist And Crawl (2:33)
PRINCE FATTIE & HOLLIE COOK And The Beat Goes On Dub (3:03)
ANDY LEWIS (Featuring Keni Burke) (Love Is) Alive In My Heart (3:06)
CURTIS MAYFIELD Move On Up (3:38)
AARON NEVILLE Hercules (4:11)
PAUL WELLER & TERRY CALLIER Brother To Brother (4:12)
THE MOONS Jennifer (Sits Alone) (3:20)
DEXY’S Nowhere Is Home (4:57)
BRUCE FOXTON (AKA FROM THE JAM with the WELLER Fella)Number Six (3:14)
WILKO JOHNSON Down By The Waterside (3:15)
THE JAM The Great Depression (Live) (3:17)
